When Doubt Knocks at the Door

Hey friend, and welcome to Faith on the Mountain. Today, we’re gonna talk about something that slips in quiet and settles heavy if you let it: when doubt knocks.
Maybe you’ve felt it, too. You wake up one morning and suddenly the questions start creeping in. Am I really saved? Does any of this matter? Is God even listening? Those aren’t easy thoughts to admit—but they’re real. And more common than most folks let on.

And here’s one of the enemy’s favorite tactics: he’ll bring up your past. Not just what you did before you knew Jesus — but even after. He’ll throw it in your face and try to make you believe that God’s grace wasn’t enough. But here’s the truth: when we repent and ask Jesus into our hearts, He does forgive. And once we’ve been saved, we are covered by grace. When we stumble in our Christian walk and come to Him in repentance, He forgives us still.
Sometimes the hardest part is not believing God has forgiven us — it’s forgiving ourselves.
But make no mistake — God’s Word is clear. And He’s given us the tools to fight the lies. That’s why we have to hide His Word in our hearts.
Psalm 119:11 (KJV) says:
"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

When we know what the Bible says, we can answer every lie with truth. And the truth will always set us free.
But here’s something I’ve come to learn: doubt is one of the enemy’s oldest tricks. He doesn’t always charge in loud. Sometimes, he just whispers. A little nudge here. A small fear there. And before you know it, you’re questioning the very truth you’ve always stood on.
He wants to plant seeds of confusion. He wants to make you feel small. Uncertain. Unseen. Because if he can get you to forget who you are in Christ, he knows he can steal your peace.
But here’s the good news: you don’t have to accept the lie.
Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) tells us:
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Friend, you don’t have to hold yourself up. You don’t have to have all the answers. God’s already promised—He’ll do the holding.
And then there’s John 10:28 (KJV):
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
You didn’t earn your salvation by being good enough, and you can’t lose it by feeling unsure. If you’ve given your heart to Jesus, you are His—and nothing can snatch you from His hand. Not fear. Not doubt. Not the devil himself.
Second Timothy 1:7 (KJV) says:
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

That fear and confusion you’re feeling? That shaky uncertainty? It isn’t from Him. What God gives is power. Peace. And a clear mind rooted in His truth.
And when the devil just won’t let up, and the lies keep comin’? That’s when you armor up.
Ephesians 6:13–17 (KJV) lays it out plain:
"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Truth. Righteousness. Peace. Faith. Salvation. The Word. That’s your armor. So when doubt comes knockin’, don’t open the door and let it sit a while. Don’t feed it. Don’t nurse it. Suit up. Stand firm. Speak the Word out loud. Remind your soul who you belong to. Because you are loved. You are redeemed. And you are already equipped to fight back.
God bless and we’ll see you next time.
