💛 Sharing Appalachia’s Nonprofits | Hearts of Appalachia

Updated: Jul 1

There’s a quiet kind of strength in these mountains.

It’s in the hands that deliver meals when no one’s watching…

The neighbor who prays without needing to be asked…

The small ministry that keeps showing up, even when the donations run dry.

These are the stories that matter. And we want to help tell them.

Who We Are

At Hearts of Appalachia, we’re on a mission to uplift the people, history, and heart of this region we love so dearly. Through storytelling, photography, devotionals, community spotlights, and everyday reminders that faith and kindness still move mountains — we’re shining a light on what makes Appalachia sacred.

And part of that light belongs to you.

Why Sharing Appalachia’s Nonprofits is so important?

Stone Church in the Blue Ridge

So many of our communities are filled with everyday heroes — churches, nonprofits, and grassroots helpers who step in when no one else does.

They fill pantries, fix porches, host recovery meetings, deliver Bibles, and remind the forgotten they’re still seen.

But too often, those stories stay local. Quiet. Hidden. We want to change that.

What We’re Offering

We’re creating a space on our blog — and across our social media — to spotlight nonprofits and ministries serving Appalachia. Whether you’re in the hollers of Kentucky, the hills of Virginia, or deep in the coalfields of West Virginia or Tennessee, we want to help tell your story.

  • If your group serves:

  • families in need

  • Those recovering from addiction

  • Elderly and homebound folks

  • Youth through sports, mentoring, or arts

  • Veterans, single parents, or the unhoused

  • Or any other form of mountain-hearted ministry...

We’d love to feature you.

What You’ll Get

When we feature your nonprofit, we will:

  • ✍️Write a full blog story about your mission and heart

  • 📣Promote it on our social media, where thousands across Appalachia follow along

  • 🤝Help connect your work with others who may want to help, donate, or share your story

There’s no cost. No catch. Just the hope that by sharing what you do, someone else will be blessed, encouraged, or led to support your mission.

How to Be Featured

It’s simple:

  1. Email us at [your email here] or message us on Facebook.

  2. We’ll send over a few short questions.

  3. You can reply in your own words, or let us help shape it into a story.

  4. We’ll add any photos you want to share, and we’ll do the rest.

Let’s Shine a Light on the Helpers

This region is full of need — but it’s also full of helpers. And the world needs to know it.

So whether your nonprofit is brand new or three generations strong, whether you serve ten people or ten thousand — we want to hear from you.

Let’s tell your story together.

Because Appalachia isn’t just a place on a map. Its a living testimony to faith, grit, and heart.

Want to be added to our Appalachian nonprofit directory? In addition to our blog spotlight series, we’re also building a resource list of nonprofits and ministries serving communities across the mountains.

If your organization offers food assistance, recovery support, youth programs, community outreach, or any form of local help — we’d love to include you.

You can register your nonprofit using HERE and simply select the category that fits your work. We’ll review and add your group to the appropriate page on our site so others can find you when they’re looking for help or ways to serve.

Let’s connect the helpers to the hearts that need them.
